Blackthorn Music Festival Preview - The Enemy Headline
Now in its third year, Blackthorn Music Festival promises to be one of the highlights of the summer festival season. Taking place between Friday 24th July and Sunday 26th July, there is an emphasis on the word ‘growth’ this year as the organisers look to build upon the success of the past, and judging from the bill it seems that mission has been accomplished.
The line-up showcases the cream of Manchester talent, which is to be expected given the festival’s location in a picturesque, rural part of Stockport. Of course it’s not just local talent that make up the schedule as bands/artists from elsewhere also feature prominently.
With a mixture of styles and genres, focussing more on the indie, rock and acoustic genres, there’s sure to be acts that cater to everyone’s musical tastes.
It was announced recently that The Enemy will headline on Saturday, which is sure to be a mouth watering act to end the night with.
A few others that’ll make up the festival are listed below:
The Sunshine Underground The Tapestry
The Gramotones JJ Rosa
The Cornelius Crane No Hot Ashes
The Sherlocks Mohawk Radio
Jeramiah Ferrari Little Sparrow
Mary Joanna The Turning
Matt Fryers The Mantells
Mercury Field The SSS
Aside from the original bands that are on show, a series of tribute acts have been booked, such as The Smiths Ltd, Happy Mondaze and The Clone Roses, with DJ slots from the legendary Clint Boon. A homage to Manchester’s greatest is sure to raise the atmosphere as the classic tunes of Mancunia will be sung in full voice by the attendees.
Many of the bands/artists listed above have been covered by Sonic Bandwagon over the past few years so we can vouch first hand for their talent, professionalism and performance levels. To have these acts thrown together for one festival makes for one momentous occasion.
More bands on the bill can be found at http://www.blackthornmusicfestival.co.uk/music-lineup-2015/
Stage times have not been finalised as yet, but we will give a further update when they’re released.

As well as the fantastic array of talent on show there will also be a variety of other activities to enjoy. There will be areas for live art, acoustic acts, spontaneous live art installations, and silent discos and jamming sessions from, lest forgetting the variety of quality food and drink on offer.
This year also sees Blackthorn partnering with Blastbeat, a charity that promotes young talent all over the country, which you can find more about at www.blastbeat.org.
If you like your music and festivals then this is certainly one that should be attended given the quality of the line-up.
